5 Reasons Why I hate Adsense
May 31st, 2007 by Jon Waraas

Well about 3 months ago I was banned from Google Adsense because of arbitrage. Google doesnt like arbitrage that well. Even though they have been turning the other way to people who have been doing it the last few years. But now they are being greedy and banning a lot of quality arbitrage. It sounds like they want to make the money themselves.

So here is my list of reasons why I hate Google Adsense:

5. No phone support! I do a lot of business through phone, in fact I just got off the phone with YPN.

4. Banning arbitrage accounts! If done right, adsense arbitrage is a good way of making money at home, and its been around forever. Plus, Google is still making money off of this, and advertisers are still getting quality clicks.

3. There email support sucks! Adsense support in general basically sucks! It would take them 2 days to get back to my emails, they dont have reps for members, you cant talk to them via aim/skype/msn/yahoo, and when you do get a hold of them through email, they dont even answer your question, they usually just copy and paste a peace from there terms and conditions to answer your question.

2. Once your banned, you can never get back in. They wont even let my roommate into Adsense because he lives with me. I know people who were banned 2 years ago that they wont let back in. They wont let me back in even through a company account.

1. They own the Internet! We need some smart entrepreneur to make a privately owned quality PPC service for everyone. Instead of everyone relying on the top 3 companies on the Internet for PPC. Why cant we have a text-links-ad.com type company for PPC? Someone get working! hehe

I have been testing a bunch of different ad services, I will tell everyone about them later on this week.

Follow me on my journey of success and failures, it should be a fun ride.... Again, here is the link for the RSS feed.

Your right mate, Google own the show.. play their game or don’t play at all!

Not saying yours were, but most of the arbi sites gave no value to the user – that’s Google’s view and I agree with it. Yeah, it might make money but it fills the web up with junk.

As a consumer, I want ads to be relevant and not lead to sites just full of more ads. On course, an arbi/MFA site can still provide real value to the user if done well.

I’m curious, what’s Yahoo’s stance on arbitrage?

arbitrage is where you buy traffic and a lower price, then you convert it at a higher price. Like using adwords and buying a click for .07 cents, then having the person click on one of your adsense ads on ur landing page for .13. You just made 5 cents… you have to do that on a big scale though..

In the scenario you outlined, isn’t there a fairly large chance that the person who clicks through on your AdWords ad won’t click on any AdSense ads on your site rendering your $.07 investment a loss?

Yes there is, its a numbers game. Its all about CTR and the CPM your getting.

If your spending 100$ a day on adwords and only making 90$ a day with loan ads, that’s not a good market. But if you spending 100$ a day and making 200$ a day with viagra, then your doing good.

But google doesnt allow you to do that anymore, infact they are banning adwords accounts too.

Do you know why they started banning accounts that do arbitrage? And how do they determine if your site is an arbi site? Is it an arbi site if it just has a paragraph of info? What if it had 6 articles but ads on each page? Seems very hard to determine what is and isn’t an arbi site.

I’d have to agree about adsense. There needs to be a site run by a few individuals that provides a similar platform. The adsense ads seem to be getting less smart, too. The ads are not as relevant as they used to be. Probably because people are starting to find ways to manipulate their system and keywords.

I agree with you completely. Adsense serves a purpose, and the majority of us use it because the ads fill very well. I am just starting to more actively police the advertisers on my sites, and it has started to work out well.

Adsense as a put it up and hope medium doesn’t work, but with some tweaking and analysis, it can work out very well.

I agree with you, Google is taking over the internet. In a couple of years or less will have to go though Google for everything, because they’re buying everything in sight.

Ouch man that hurts Jon, u can get another account if u do some working, setup an EIN do it under another name or something crazy, not that I recommend it.

The reason I haven’t done in arbi is because I feel in the future it may slowly but surely get weeded out as search engines and high rich content is more accessible and first acciessible content in the future. anyways what do I know.

You’ll just make more money with YPN anyways you mentioned right john?

They DO own the internet. Sad, but oh so true. Unfortunately, the terms for using Adsense change all the time and it is really just a daily ritual of stress to login and see if your account still even exists.
