5 Website Tips
August 30th, 2006 by Jonathan Waraas

I’m tired tonight so I’m just going to give everyone a few tips on how to make your websites more successful ;)

5 Webmaster Tips

1. Keep it simple! – I believe in keeping websites simple. Don’t over do yourself. Keep your navigation simple, your design simple, etc. Make the website really simple so your users enjoy there experience. Also remember we are in the web 2.0 phase or whatever…

2. Be Unique – Bet you heard this one before, but it is important. There are millions of websites out there. The better chance of you getting traffic is having your website being unique. Whether there are 500 myspace websites, if you have a unique idea then your website will succeed.

3. Always play with your ads. If you are a publisher like I am, always looks for new ad placements, ad targeting, etc. Remember that less ads make more money. And high CTR make even more money. Always play with your ads!

4. Be creative with your design. I personally hate designs that are plain and un-original (like the default word press theme). Make your design stand out, so your website stands out to your users… so they remember it better and like it better. A website should be a joyful experience, if done right, you can give a user great content and a great design!

5. Update… A Lot – If you want traffic, you need to work for it! The biggest websites in the world are updated daily (well actually more like every second, haha)

I hope these tips help you. I actually hope that they make sense, I’m writing this at like 6 am :-s (That is also one of the reasons I’m not as much of a smart ass in this post, lol)

Follow me on my journey of success and failures, it should be a fun ride.... Again, here is the link for the RSS feed.
