I find it interesting to see what everyone uses to make there cash money from the interwebs. However, I have never made a post about all the tools/programs I use on my daily work. So here she is, all the tools I use to make my cash money.
Linux - I really never had to many problems with Windows. The cracked versions always gave me problems, but once I purchases a real version I never had a problem. I also run Windows on my laptop, and never had a problem with that OS. The reason I have linux is because it runs fast, plus its just plain fun to have something different that what everyone else uses (everyone knows that). But the biggest advantage is how fast it is compared to Windows, it does win in that department.
Gaim Messenger - I’m always talking to someone on IM. So I use this program a lot. With Gaim you can have MSN, AIM, and ICQ all in one program. Its great because everything is the same. The only thing that sucks is that it dosent run Skype, which I use to talk to my reps, so I have to use my laptop to talk to my reps, no big deal though.
Firefox - Who doesn’t use firebox these days?
Zune Player - Its faster loading plus works way better than any other media player I have tryed. And its way way better than itunes, you need your own server to run that haha. I use this program A LOT!
Twhirl - I signed up for twitter last week, and have been twitting ever since. Twirl is bad ass, it runs just like a IM program and lets me know what is going on. Doesn’t take time away from me and alerts me when something important comes up.
gftp - A FTP client for linux, no big deal
Adwords - I use adwords for my abri, affiliate marketing, and even keyword research. Its a pretty good program. I use it a lot.
Notepad - I use this a lot too. I dont use any html editor, I have been doing this shit for so long that I make all my websites using notepad. I also use it for all my bookword, however I have slowly been getting into using excel (linux version) for that, I like how it shows charts and all that info. Its just tough to shake my ways that I have been using since 2002 lol.
Gmail - I do have the ability of using jon@jonwaraas.com or something. But when I used to use shared hosting I would keep loosing all my emails and such from switching hosts and what not, plus its horrible with spam. I find that gmail is the best, and I pray that they wont somehow loose my emails.
Wordpress - I use wordpress for all my websites backend. Its a great CMS. Just a pain to keep updated because they seem to have a new update out ever 2 days haha. Thats not a problem. Having all the plugins available for it makes it worth it.
Google Alerts - I have a ton of alerts, I watch my brand/company’s using Google Alerts, Its a great program to use. Plus you can sometimes find the new ways other people are using to spam
Photoshop - I also have to use my laptop for this. Nothing at all even comes close to beating photoshop. Sorry linux version of PS.
Paypal - I love paypal and log in like 5 times a day, just watching my cash grow :). But I am looking into Google Check out solely for the fact that you get the little icon next to your ads on the search results. I will probably keep using Paypal for person to person cash transfers, but probably start using Google Checkout on my e-commerce websites.
Welp, those are all the programs I use daily. I don’t do much blackhat spamming at all, so I dont use a lot of programs for that. I am mostly whitehat so I build links up the old fashion way. Sounds boring but its the truth.
Also, I am always looking for new programs to try out. I need to find a way to keep track of my daily earns better, like breaking down affiliate sales, abri earnings, e-commerce, and ad sales. If anyone knows of a program that does that let me know. I also need to find a program that sends me a txt message if my server dies. I currently use a website that sends pings every 5 mins and then send an email if it dies, but sometimes I’m not around my email. So that would help me out too. Let me know if you guys know any programs for that ![]()
If you enjoyed this blog post than I think you should subscribe to the RSS feed. That way you can learn a lot more from me and laugh some more at my really bad grammar. Again, here is the link for the RSS feed.

Continue using the same service that pings your site every 5 minutes. What you need to do is look into SMS gateways and setup an email forwarder. For example, if you use Cingular, setup an email forwarder (e.g. sms@jonwaraas.com) that forwards to your phone number (e.g. 1235556789@@cingularme.com). Your email notification will now be forwarded to your phone as a text message.
You can find a complete list of SMS gateways here:

I threw in an extra @ symbol in my previous comment. Ignore it.

@Dan
Isn’t it bad to ping servers that often? Like every 5 minutes?
What geotargeting/redirect script do you use? I’m having trouble finding a decent one.
Cheers,
Duane.
Great tools you use.
