Ok, I haven’t posted an blog post that actually helps people out in some time. So I thought I’d be nice and ramble on about a few things to help make your website better. Now this is based off my experience of a whopping 5 years developing. Some people might have different ideas, and if you do, feel free to post a comment ya silly goose.
1st. Dont change links to different colors. It makes me shit my pants when I cant find a text link because it is the same color as the regular font except bolded or something. Always use blue when your background is white (or any other light color). And if your background is black, just use your imagination. Just make sure that you build your websites so they are easy to navigate… those hard to navigate websites are soooo 2005.
Now since we are talking about links. Make sure you leave your links underlined as well. When people think links, they think a blue underlined thingy. I personally like hovers, and I use them on all my own websites. That is your choice. I also like my links bolded as well.
2. Your websites should load fast! Everyone knows that people leave a website if it hasn’t loaded in like 2 seconds. Duh. So your website should load less than 1 second at least. I love fast loading websites. And thanks to my recent server change, I got it.
3. Make your websites for your users, not for spiders! I have started doing this since I got kicked out of google for my 2 biggest websites (I just barley got 1 of them back in). I now create websites for users, I have them built in XML/CSS so they are clean and load fast. I have some meta tags such as the title, description, and keywords, but that is about it. I also use the normal h1, h2 tags and other random stuff like that. But I dont do anything special for site searches. And as in marketing. I do link exchanges, but that is about it.
4. I really dont know why I am listing these in number(1. 2. 3. 4.)? But oh well… anyways, another thing I have been doing is launching my websites with content. Most people launch websites with a minimal amount of content. I launch my websites with as much content I can mustard up. What that does is give the site searches more weight to your website. And it also makes people come back to your website. People dont like websites with no content 
5. I am listening to ‘Carol of the Bells’ by ‘Trans-Siberian Orchestra’ for some reason, I am not sure how it got on my I-tunes, but I kinda like it…
I cant really think of anymore small tips for you right now. Sorry I have been so busy on offline stuff, I haven’t really had time to post any good blogs. Also check out Buzz Bums when you have a chance, that website is coming out great! I cant wait till I get done with it.
