Google Launches Free 411 Service
April 7th, 2007 by Jon Waraas
This is good news for people like me that pays $20.00 a month in 411 calls. I’m always too lazy to look up a number, so I always call my local 411 number. Now Google has launches its own version of 411, and its free! The number is 1-800-GOOG-411 (1-800-466-4411). Its completely computer automated. And free. I found this off of TechCrunch, and the article mentions other free 411 services, I feel like a dumb ass for ever paying a penny for that info, oh well..
Follow me on my journey of success and failures, it should be a fun ride.... Again, here is the link for the RSS feed.

yeha great for you americans, but what about the rest of the world, any news on whether australia will be getting a number to call anytime soon?
Google is for Americans only. =P
You can always try 1-800-FREE-411
It really is free, you just have to listen to a 20 second ad.
“Google is for Americans only. =P”
cheeky bugger
I will be the first one to make a free Australian 411 service, just wait
Jon I sent you an email, please get back to me. Thanks.
I am with you on that Jon I hate paying for stuff that’s free. Is google going to take over the world one service at a time though? I mean what’s next internet broadband service?
Some one is going to do it in Europe? Here they charge more and more for informations.
Just replaced 1-800-FREE-411 on my cell phone phonebook.
Thanks, I had no idea there were free 411#s out there…
Here in the UK 999 is free (paid for by the taxpayer). In fact our monthly line rental is at most $20/month!
You have such odd taxes etc on your phone bills over there. Some kind of tax on long distance calls, sales tax, federal excise tax. Also charges for a lot of the things most people abroad get for free (eg emergency calls etc).
