Happy Earth Day

Well today is the day for change. Take shorter showers, start recycling your beer cans, go buy those energy saving light bulbs, or even build a compost pit. Even if you can do a little bit, every little bit helps. If our country (USA) didnt rely on oil so much, then we wouldn’t have people dying in Iraq right now. But I admit that I am not perfect either. So I’m changing too, for starters I went to Home Depot today and purchased 20 of those energy saving light bulbs. I still need to get 10 more, but its a start. Tomorrow I’m going to go get some rubbermaid containers and start recycling cans, and I am going to make my roommate help me make a compost pit for the backyard. Thats about all I can do right now. Besides take shorter showers, which will be hard hehe.

I have been watching a few of those hippie shows on TV the last few days. They do make some points clear. The more energy we use, the more people die in Iraq. I know I am no way perfect, and I am probably spreading a lot of pollution around. Mostly my big truck haha. But like I said before, I will be changing a little bit of my everyday life. To help the hippies and save some monies.

I will probably be getting another car this year, I rather buy a new car than pay that money to the IRS. I was thinking of getting some fancy fast expensive car, but not this Jonathan. I’m thinking about getting a Toyota Prius. The car says its gets 60 mpg, but after reading some forums, I found out that it gets about 54 mpg. They all lie about there mpg, my truck said it gets 18 mpg, but with me driving it really good, its about 14/15ish. The car is also a 4 seater and is decently fast, the 0-60 is 11 seconds haha. Im not sure if there are any more tax avantages to hybrid cars. But the the car will be about 3300 tax write off next year, hehe.

I also have gathered some links of sites that will help you guys save energy and go green. Here they are:

Oh and plant some tree’s too!

Other Shit Going On
I got a reveiwme coming. I want the guy to get maximum exposure, so I will be writing it tomorrow night. On tuesday night I will tell everyone about hats going on with some more little classified ads. I have some more ideas, but Im not telling today, I have tooo much going on. Happy earnings and hippie day…

Great post Jon. I’ve got an idea for you. Put some solar panels on the back of your house. Yeah they’re kinda expensive, but you’ve got plenty of cash. They do increase the value of your house though, and it’s pretty cool to see on the meter how much electricity you’re saving.

Yeah I do wanna do that too hehe. They are expensive though, like 1k. I look into that next year, after I spend the 3k for a fence, another 1k for sod and all that shit :)

Being a biology major, I am always trying to help the environment. But, this is awesome, Jon! Very cool. Now, for the tax right off from getting a Hybrid. I am entirely sure if the government is still offering it, but I know that they used to. Maybe I am wrong. As for getting solar panels…Consider it an investment, if anything. Not only can you power your own house, but if you produce enough electricity from your solar panels, you can sell it back to electricity companies. So, not only are you not paying for electricity, but you’re making a profit from selling the electricity you naturally generate. People that use geothermal energy do the same thing.
