Heatmap Of Google Results

The go for 1st ranking the rest is worthless blog post was a HUGE hit. I’m still getting over 1000 uniques a day on my blog from people linking the post and stumbleupon. So I will be doing lots more blog posts on that subject. Today I wanted to write a 500 page article on the subject, but its 10 am and I haven’t gone to bed yet, so I will just show you this heatmap.

The first 3 results get the most eye traffic, after that it looks like its pretty much worthless. It doesn’t look like that huge of a difference between 1st and 2nd on the heatmap, but if you look at the purple X’s you can see that its a pretty big difference between the 2. Just another example of why you should never settle for another rank besides 1st.

It might be double the work every month, but it also might mean a double in profits. Say you making $1,000 a month for your keyword in second place, but once you get up to first place you earn $4,000 a month. Is it work it? ;)

BTW, don’t you guys just love how much good music helps your work ethic? I found some new lil wayne and some other remixes and now I’m all pumped up to work. I think the 5 empty mt dew cans might have helped a little also :D

If you enjoyed this blog post than I think you should subscribe to the RSS feed. That way you can learn a lot more from me and laugh some more at my really bad grammar. Again, here is the link for the RSS feed.

This principle not only applies to blogging. Why settle for second if you can come in first place? First place, for the most part is highly lucrative! :)

Well with SEO, that first place could be a lot of work. I have a few sites that are pulling decent amount of money in 2nd place. I actually have 3 sites like that. I dont spend any money on advertising on them. But if I would get 1st place I would have to purchase backlinks and do a lot of promoting, it takes work.

But you are right, might as well work harder and get the first place. But with seo, sometimes i can be a pain the ass to get the 1st.

Dude,

That looks like an image from the old Marketing Sherpa report. That was done in like 2004. Or is this a new heat map tracking study?
