I Flooded My Basement

What a great week I’m having, Google stocks are going down, my internet has been down, and then yesterday I flooded my basement. It sucks because I just barley got done finishing my basement, the downstairs had the new carpet smell and everything. The good news is that I caught it in time and it only flooded about 200 square feet. What happens was I didn’t turn off my sprinklers for winter, well one of the metal pipes threads broke and it pored a bunch of water on my lawn, the water built up into a window well, and then once the water gathered up about 2 feet it started leaking throw the window. It leaks down onto my new carpet.

The cost of the damage is about $1500, about 1200$ will be for the 24 hour water damage people and about 300 for new padding under the carpet. Luckily the carpet isn’t ruined. Its all cleaned up now, I just have to wait till next week to get the carpet padding and carpet reinstalled. I have some pictures below.

Also for FYI, insurance doesn’t cover water that comes from outside your house, you have to get flood insurance or upgrade your insurance.

We also finally networked the house, we now have wireless internet and each room has cat5 running to it. I took a pic below of the datacenter we have in the downstars. We have a modem hooked into the wireless router, and then a switch hooked into the router, giving up 8 rooms with cat5. It runs great so far except when I log into myspace it sends me to google for some strange reason.
