Since I’m not 100% in SEO anymore I will share a few of the ways I get my backlinks. First off I don’t consider my methods as blackhat SEO at all. I’m actually about 99% whitehat, but all that matters on your definition of a blackhat SEO person. My definition is someone who gain links using spamming. And I don’t consider blog comments, directory submissions, social bookmarking, forum posts, etc as spamming.
I am working on a detailed blog post on reviews of a bunch of different backlink-gaining company’s. I have a few that I will personally be using for all of my new sites. That should be out soon. I would love to link a few company’s that are great for the methods I use below, but you’ll have to wait for that blog post.
Ok, lets get started. Below are my favorite ways to gain backlinks:
1. Social Bookmarking
Just imagine having hundreds of quality sites that you can submit your site to to get some linkjuice… oh wait! Guess what, their are hundreds of sites that you can submit your site too! Now, get out your notepad, find your favorite dofollow social bookmarking sites and hire someone to bookmark those dofollow sites for you*. After a while the link juice goes down and down, so you will have to keep submitting your websites to the social bookmarking sites. Again, hire someone.
* TIP: Never do it yourself, you wont make any money. You need to hire someone. The way to become a SEO jedi is to find those niches were you can spend the money to gain the backlinks and still make money. But if you want to stick in the $xx-$xxx a day area then go ahead and bookmark them yourself.
Tip 2: Use the social bookmarking method with Keyword real estate.
2. Wordpress Themes
A personal favorite. Hire a good designer* and pay them to make a awesome looking wordpress theme. Put your link on the bottom and watch the links poor in. Have a niche site? Make the wordpress theme a niche based theme. If your site is about dogs…make a dog theme design. Then all those people who use free wordpress layouts that blog about dogs might use your theme, gaining you some quality links.

3. Blog Comments
You knew I was going to mention it! I use them a ton, maybe its because I get them cheap? But I use this method to get most of my small niches ranked. It works great. Remember to use dofollow blogs. But nofollow works too.
4. Paid Links
There are thousands of people on digitalpoint and sitepoint that would love your 10$ a month in exchange for a quality backlink on there website. This is the method most of the SEO jedi’s use. Remember the myspace sites days? All of the people on the first page of google where buying there links. They where spending $4,000-$10,000 a month on links, and the #1 spot on google for “myspace layouts” was making the guy $5,000-$7,000 a day. <- SEO Jedi
Those are truly the only methods I use these days. I do have a few other ones up my sleeves and I will be telling you guys those later. Now I need more comments on this blog… so comment away! Comments are now dofollow…
Follow me on my journey of success and failures, it should be a fun ride.... Again, here is the link for the RSS feed.

How about making a post on tips on hiring someone. Where to find em, what to do when they aren’t doing a good job for you, how to separate good ones from bad, etc.
P.S. Comments are still nofollow.
Yeah Ill get that fixed now.
Would you recommend social networking sites for the potential visitors or for the backlink? Or a combination of the two?
Also, which social networking sites are dofollow these days?
Chris, I will post a list. And yes the traffic a plus, however for most niche sites the traffic isnt to targeted. Unless your site is about computers or something, but other then that it seems like the traffic from the socal sites arnt to targeted for my websites.
Yeah social networking like myspace is crappy as hell for me personally… I’ve tried targeted friend requests, forming a group, bulletin posting, and just a trickle of traffic.. social bookmarking is way better
There are quite a few good theme designers out there. Some people have the knack, others don’t. The guy who did People You’ll See In Hell has gotten many compliments for the work our designer did.
Thanks Jon for the suggestions.
I see that comments are working now.

How much do you pay for a nice WP theme?
I know that john chow and those bloggers pay 1500-2000$ on there designs. However I would pay about 200-400 for mine. I payed 200$ for this one.
I really like the tip about developing a Wordpress theme. I am definitely going to be using that one in the future.
Just be careful buying links.. I bought a bunch of high profile, PR6 auto links for my site when they got pinched, so did I!
Thanks, waiting for the other fews
Thanks for the tips, cant wait to hear the rest
Which social bookmarking sites are the best to aim at?
I will publish a list soon
Nice list of tips. Had no idea, that myspace layouts were so profitable. That’s incredible. Was it all adSense money, or some other affiliate payout?
