I have just spent the last 6 hours working on this new website I purchased on sitepoint a few weeks ago. I bought someones forum that was set up on a free IPB forum host. It took me about 2 weeks just to get the forum’s database so that I could convert it to Vbulletin. So 2 weeks later they finally gave it to me (after charging me $55). I hired this incredibly kool guy named Alex to do the actual conversion, then I slapped it on and had the forum redesigned. In totally I payed about $600 for a forum that already has 30k posts.
The new forum is - Sports Channel Talk
I’m going to start advertising the website tomarrow. First I need to weed out all the errors, finish installing all the hacks, and then make sure the SEO is in worken order. I will spend a few hundred advertising this website, I hope to get a few hundred active users going on the site within 2 months. Hopefully some of you readers!
I bought the site because I though it was a really good deal. I think it fits into the network quite well 
As for forums, I am also getting my very very small forum, Prerunners redesigned and optimized so that I can get some traffic going on that site.
So right now I am very very tired. I will write another blog post about tookle.com when I wake up tomorrow

Sounds like a really good deal for 30k posts. You’ll probably get a lot of organic search traffic off that.
Looks like a dead forum to me. Are you sure it wasn’t a reused SQL db that somebody peddled as a previously “active” forum?
Yeah its pretty dead right now. But I will be able to get some activity on there for sure…

I was introduced to adsense when I purchsaed a site two years ago for 2.5k, although I’m more interested in starting up some more arbi websites like urself, it has been an eye opener. Anyways regardless, great information on the site, and knowledge about the site exchange website and everything.
