The big money is in options, and hedge funds. To get into hedge funds, you have to be an accredited investor, which most people in the US are not able to be ;). Buying and selling stocks is where the small fish play, but the hardcore people buy/sell options, and on margin. Look into options, I've done it a few times and made a few bucks, it's like insurance on stocks, just gotta know what your doing.
