You should know by now that I dis-like Google Adsense and don’t advise anyone to base there business off of it. The best day in my life was when I got banned from adsense. Now I work harder and make less money, but It’s worth it because I do not reply on ther people for my income. I don’t know if its entirely true that I make less money now, I have heard horror story and horror story about people’s monthly income going down month after money from Google.
But anyways, Aaron posted a good post about why adsense earnings are dropping. Its a sad story but true, however you want to look at it, our economy is going down, and same with business spendings. Like Aaron says, if you base your business model off adsense, than you should be looking for a new business model asap. But what kinda business models you ask?
E-commerce
My personal favorite! It takes lots of work, but the money is good, and the only people you have to rely on is yourself. If your SEO rankings drop or you adwords ranking drops, your the only person to blame. Its more work than adsense sites, you have to find a drop shipper, build you site, add all your products, find a traffic source, etc. But totally worth it.
Affiliate Marketing
I know people who make $30,000 a day off this, and I have heard of people who make even more than that. If you got money to spend and lots of time to edit campaigns than this is the way to go. The only thing holding me back from this is all the work, I’m and SEO guy, I would have to learn this from scratch… so im lazy you can say..
Subscription Products
My second favorite. Just check out The 30 day challenge. Its a great way to make money if you have a product and now how to market it. Its a lot of work though, a lot more work than a regular ecommerce site.
Private Advertising
I do this on all of my content sites, well I will be starting Thursday. If you get banned from YPN or adsense than I suggest trying this out. You will make less money, and it will take work on selling the ad space, but its worth it because you don’t rely on other people. You might even make more money than having adsense on your site, John Chow make like $15,000 a month off private advertising. He would only probably make 3-4,000 using adsense.
All these are something to think about if you base your business model off adsense or YPN. It wont last forever, remeber banner blindness? Well adsense blindness is coming for you..

I feel you. My business model got me about 3-4 cent clicks all day today. I tried throwing in a little amazon affiliate links in a post yesterday. Got a bunch of click-through, but no sales.
I totally agree. I make maybe 30cents a day from adsense. I am trying to focus on affiliate products, or more importantly creating my own products for affiliates to sell!
Man talk about affiliates being a determined bunch… they always talk about how easy it is to just jump in, sure jumping in is easy, but getting a good ration of clicks to conversions is really really hard!
I think I’m gonna work on my advertising income, continue to grow my freelance income, and possibly work on some scripts to sell ecomm stlye. That should keep me comfortably in the black.
I had combined Adsense (CPC) with other companies (CPM) but both seem to of dropped off the very first day of this year. My CPM companies are getting better though but Adsense has been cruddy. Side note, anyone looking to buy AMD stock yet…? It’s very low.
I know what you are talking about… affiliate ads rule! AdSense is long gone. But you got a lot of readers related to posts talking about this model of web money earning
