Isn’t it a entrepreneurs job to always be thinking about business? Well it happen on a Friday morning, time was about 8 am. I was helping my girlfriend and her dad load firewood from a pile of wood from a log cabin manufacturing company in Rigby, Idaho. I was talking to my girlfriends dad and he showed me a guy there (a Mexican) that buys the firewood from the place for $100 a cord, then takes it home, chops it up, then sells it split for $225 a cord in the winter at Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
All I have to say is… quote… wow…
Im starting to like this idea. First of all, I dont mind getting up at 7 am, its nice and cool outside, and its really relaxing outside. So what if I woke up at 7 am a few days a week. Load wood into my truck and then take it and chop it and load it in my garage. The sell it in the fall/winter. And of course, sell it in the summer too. But for cheaper…
I am going to put an ad in the local thrifty nickle and see how many people call me. I am going to start the price at $150 a cord.
But wait…. what about making this a business? Buying a wood chopper, hiring some Mexicans, and then selling on a mass scale? ehh?
We will call this… “Jon’s Morning Wood”… lol
Anyways, I talked to my buddie and we are going to try this out on a small scale. He makes, $8.00 an hour at his job, which leads to $320 a week. So if we can pull in over $650 a week (1/2 for both of us), this would be worth it. And it should only take a few hours a day. 2 hours to get the wood, 2 hours to chop it up. Then he can work at his regular job too. And I can work on the Internet also.
Does anyone have any thoughts? Suggestions? I also seem to get a few emails and comments saying ” I hate you, you will never make money doing that, I’m stupid and don’t criticize.. blah blah”.. those comments are ok and fun to read also…
Oh ok, now about my little network. The toolbar is working great, and people like the look of it also. The beta phase is over and its going to officially stay. The text ads in the middle work really well to ![]()
I have also been working on Operation Big bertha, just give it time, give it time…
Oh, and I think I am going to come out with another Operation site. I have a really good idea. But I dont want to tell you guys again. What should I call this one? Operation Free Wilma?
Ok, Operation Free Wilma is another site I will be worken on in the next few months. It will be another community site, like Operation Big Bertha.. I will keep everyone updated…

hey, that’s gonna be hard work
but it will build up ur abs for ur gf
good luck in ur new venture
The only suggestion I have would be to sell the wood at the fair market price - 225. According to one of the most popular survey’s, price is the 9th most important factor… viz. it’s not really that important. Focus on what makes your business unique for it to be a success ( and no, price does not make you unique )
Just my input.
So did you ever do the morning wood thing?
Same with the icee thing
