It was fun while it lasted wasn’t it? Making A LOT of money selling them text links to help other people improve there websites in google. Well now its all over
A lot of people made bank off of text link ads. Including me. Now that might have to change.
Here are some solutions: only sell related links (which u should do already), don’t sell to many links, don’t use a broker, don’t list them as “sponsors” duh, buy links in the actual content.
Tomorrow im gonna send some emails to Text Link Ads and see what they are working on. Maybe take off the screen shots in there market place so google cant track our actual websites? Oh boy I will find something.
Google is currently in there first stage of penalizing sites that sell links, they are manually editing them, we still have time but not much to fix this issue for us people that sell links.
I would also like to welcome all the new readers from Elis interview at SEO Book.
If you enjoyed this blog post than I think you should subscribe to the RSS feed. That way you can learn a lot more from me and laugh some more at my really bad grammar. Again, here is the link for the RSS feed.

I would be so frightened. as stated at as stated at http://searchengineland . com/071007-173841.php:
“Google stressed, by the way, that the current set of PageRank decreases is not assigned completely automatically; the majority of these decreases happened after a human review.”
So I guess it would apply for high PR sites only.
I think people are just broadcasting the fact they’re selling links to much. Link selling has always gone on but now people have these huge badges everywhere. Doh..
Yeah, I need to go through and take out all the evidence that i sell links too :-s
Let’s stick to the facts. Google is not saying you can’t sell links, they are saying you cannot sell links that pass on ‘googlejuice’ (technical term ;).
If you want to sell links the links must use nofollow or use a robots nofollow via a redirect or use javascript. Then it’s fine.
I think Google just killed the text link market.
Textadsearch,
Yep thats the facts. But how many people buy text links for traffic? If I slapped nofollow on all the links I sold I would get a lot of pissed off people. They did kill the text link market. But there is always a way around it, such as they cant prove that links within content are paid links, which is what I will probably start doing anyways.
I wonder if all the rumors are true. Till now nobody knows the algorithms.
Hopefully there will be a PR update sometime. There has to be a reason for them spending time on human pr reviews.
Well what about links at your site?
I have some links from TLA but they are on sites with like 4 more links so it shouldt be recognizable.
If you are selling links & using your page rank as a selling point, that’s not good. If you sell links but do not emphasize on page rank, it’s fine.
Are they considering link sales only or link exchanges too? There are some massive link farms out there!
I love the title of ur blog post lol!
i agree completle, don“t use just one site
I was hit. Shame Google isn’t able to provide sites with a direct warning before hand.
