YPN on Tookle
November 30th, 2006 by Jon Waraas

Those images next to the ads sure do help when it comes to making money with a site. YPN doesn’t let you place images next to ads. I have done it before but I got an email from them telling me to take that down. In total I managed to make $4.45 off yahoo, that isn’t even enough to go to KFC. I even tried changing the ad targeting to something that would pay a little better for one day. Its changed back now…

So before I end this whole little challenge thing is there anything else you people want me to try? After I write this post I will be placing the google ads back up so I can make some cash money. If there is anything else that you want me to prove of try just mention it in the comments.

Ok, let me recap what I have done with tookle.com this last month.

1. Design
2. Coded.
3. Backend
4. Everything put together
5. Bought advertising
6. Started tweaking ads
7. Posted a thread on sitepoint for $1 for a link exchange
8. Tried the qunity over quality ads
9. YPN ads

and what I ended up with is making $210. So in my first month I made $10 profit. If I continued to buy the same advertising and doing everything the same as it is now, I would be making $60 profit every month with this site.

I think that is pretty good. My suggestion is to use a better paying niche with this cheap traffic.

If you have anymore questions feel free to ask. You may also send me an email, I am pretty good with replying to all of them..

Also, it would be a huge favor for me if I got some backlinks out of this challenge :) It would be nice if you place a link to www.jonwaraas.com on your blog or website :D

Follow me on my journey of success and failures, it should be a fun ride.... Again, here is the link for the RSS feed.

What kind of backend/script do you use?

The backend is http://cutephp.com/

all the content on there was added by me. I dont suggest using that though, the php coding is very old…

Jon,

I think this challenge would have been more interesting if you didn’t use your existing network to funnel the traffic to Tookle. Let’s see how you do without that helpful aid.

The thing that’d i’d been failing to understand is paying for traffic…

I was just building site after site and linking them to eachother, but none of my sites get indexed very high… LOL cuz I don’t get visitors.. that’s gonna change asap.
